Santa Maria Poggio

The enchanting town of Santa Maria Poggio is situated in the northern region of Corsica and is a natural reserve in its own right, surrounded by lush forests, verdant valleys and rolling hills. Whilst not a town renowned for its grand beaches or tourist attractions, Santa Maria Poggio is a jewel of Corsican art and culture, opening visitors up to the rich and ancient traditions of the island.
At the feet of Osari Mountain, Santa Maria Poggio is blessed with a beautiful mix of seaside scenery and magnificent mountain views. Infused with the spirit of the peasant territory, the town offers visitors the simple splendor of the French countryside, the characteristic and picturesque charm of its streets and the austere and ancient roots of its history.
In Santa Maria Poggio the atmosphere is relaxed but enchanting. The townspeople walk through the small streets and alleys almost without even noticing the incredible architectural treasures that surrounds them. The Church of Santa Maria, in the heart of the town, is a beautiful symbol of local art; while the Church of St. Pancrazio and the Fountain of the Abbeveratoio are more than 100 years old. Even the Taverna Port, which may be watched nonchalantly by locals, is a breathtaking symbol of the rich history and culture of Santa Maria Poggio and something no tourist should miss.
